Ham Events: ITERA Expedition Adventure Race 19 -20 July 2026 To consider the hire request received. A briefing note had been circulated in advance of the meeting to provide cllrs with additional information in response to queries about management of the event. It was noted that the organisers would require exclusive use of the car park from the evening of Saturday 18 to approx.. 10am on Sunday 19. To achieve this aim the Ham carpark would need to be cordoned off 2/3 days prior to the event to allow cars parked to be moved. The estimated cost of the exclusive use of the car park, based on 20 spaces over 3 days at £6.50 per day would be £390. The budget offered by the potential hirer was £200. It was commented that the car park is in high public demand in the first weekend of the school holidays. Heras fencing would need to be hired and erected to ensure the carpark area was secured.
Following discussion it was RESOLVED to refuse the hire request.

We will soon cover all of the parishes in the South Hams. Hopefully we will soon be able to log some swifts taking up summer residence in the church tower!
